Are the Digitech and DOD brands discontinued? the end of the line for these two well known pedal brands? Or is Fluff barking up the wrong tree? RIP Digitech? Harman has had some classic effect pedals released under both the Digitech and DOD brands, the Whammy 5 pedal being one of the most famous currently in the lineup. You can hear Ryan “Fluff” Bruce talking about this subject in the Riffs, Beards & Gear video below. It appears that nearly all the pedals on the main Digitech site are not available, and the Harman parent company site has dropped all references to Digitech on its official site. Is Fluff on to something? Or is it just coincidence that nearly every pedal seems to be out of stock? Digitech Dirty Robot and Ricochet Whammy Musikmesse Dirty Robot and Whammy Ricochet two popular Digitech pedals Samsung Harman Audio itself is part of Samsung, and has owned the two pedal brands for quite some time now. Back in 2018 the Digitech company sacked the whole development team. This caused quite a furore at the time, and many people expected the brand to either fold, or perhaps come out with fresh new designs. The latter never materialised. Digitech Whammy 5 Digitech Blowout Sale? Other interesting things I have noticed include the official Digitech Instagram page not posting anything since 21 April 2021, and many official Digitech stockists have stock coming soon notices on their web sites. Could we see a huge worldwide Digitech Blowout Sale soon? Digitech DOD Carcosa Fuzz Could we see a surge in used prices? I have found some of the Digitech pedals still available for sale on Thomann (see below), though many are out of stock on other sites. Some retailers could, of course, have stock in their warehouses. But it is suspicious that the brands have been dropped on the Harman site. Are the prices of used Whammy 5 pedals, DOD Rubberneck Analog Delay and Carcosa Fuzz pedals about to soar? Hopefully, it is just a blip and the two brands will carry on, either under the Harman family of brands, or perhaps under another company. For example, maybe FMIC or Gibson will scoop up these well known brands. Do you think Digitech’s days are numbered, or is it all just the internet rumour mill in action?
