Bora Handmade in Cheshire UK, Bora offers up 6 oscillators to pitch and push against and within each other. You can pull out soundscapes of synced waveforms or modulate the pitch into something resembling a melody. This video of 15 minutes worth of droning is just sublime. The concept is simple enough. You have 6 oscillators, A through to F which have independent pitch and level controls, and can be turned on and off. B, C and D can be switched to sync to oscillator A. Oscillators E and F can be switched to receive pitch modulation from the other four. This can generate an interesting array of internally patched modulation. There is a single CV input for pitch control and you can select which oscillators wish to be part of that. Finally, we have a VCA In socket for controlling the overall level of the output. This can be turned on and off.
DecadeBridge Bora Bora is a neat little box that’s just big enough to give you space to play with the very clear and good-looking layout. The oscillators are not tuned to 1v/oct, so noise and tonal clashes are very likely and should be encouraged. So, while it’s capable of losing itself in the loveliness it can also be brash and chaotic. Bora should be available via the DecadeBridge Etsy shop for ￡110 although they are only made in small numbers and so go out of stock really quickly.
