Atlas Compressor Source Audio always manage to pack in the features, and the new Atlas Compressor pedal is no different. The compressor pedal offers users six compression styles. Based on classic studio rack units and pedals, so you have plenty of choice. Apparently, the pedal took over 10 years to develop, and so I’m expecting it to be pretty amazing.  4 controls and 3-way switch Three Styles Users can access the compressors via a three-way switch on the pedal. Where they are stored in two banks of presets. The switch is labelled Studio, Optical and Dual so you can see the style of compression you have chosen.
Studio, Optical and Dual Deep Dive The four main control knobs are labelled Threshold, Ratio (Tone), Blend (Attack), and Output (Release) which should be enough control for most users. The secondary function for each knob is accessed via the Alt switch on the top of the pedal. However, if you want to dive deeper into the settings and minutia of the various compressors, then the accompanying smartphone app allows you to do exactly that. Atlas Compressor
Compression Models The compressor models include a Diamond Compressor pedal, plus emulations of studio rack units including the LA2A optical and 1176 FET compressors. Plus Peak, RMS, VCA, and also dual band compression. Which gives users a lot of very usable choices for both guitar and bass. In fact, there is even a specific bass mode that caters specifically for low end compression. The bass mode is activated by holding down the Alt switch. The Atlas will also automatically increase or decrease the Makeup Gain depending on the amount of compression, making it easy to set up. Connectivity The Atlas Compressor features dual inputs and outputs, perfect for most guitar/bass rigs. Plus it has a USB port that will connect to the Source Audio Neuro app, and will also access MIDI, or be used to connect to your DAW. With MIDI you can access up to 128 presets, which is more than I would ever need, but it is nice to know that you can. The Source Audio Atlas Compressor has both buffered bypass or true bypass modes, and runs on an included 9v DC power supply. This all adds up to a pro-spec compressor, just in a very neat and compact stompbox format. I can see this being a great tool for musicians that gig, or work as session players.
