Dreadbox Disorder, new analog fuzz pedal with a twist

Dreadbox Disorder is a new analog fuzz pedal with a built-in lowpass/highpass filter and modular connectivity made for oscillating fuzz sounds.

The Superbooth 22 is around the corner. Dreadbox is quiet and hasn’t teased any new Synthesizer product yet for next week. Last year they premiered the Nymphes poly synth and we know from a bigger leak that an Abyss Mk2 is also in full development.

However, the Greek developers have something new. Not primarily for synth players but something for head-banging guitarists and bassists.

The disturbance in physical or mental health or functions. It could be defined as a set of problems, which result in causing significant difficulty, distress, impairment and/or suffering in a person’s daily life.

Disorder is a new characterful analog fuzz pedal based on a vintage transistor-based aggressive gated fuzz. Dreadbox calls it a fuzz with a twist as it is equipped with a self-oscillating filter.

It’s controllable with a knob that allows you to morph the filter from lowpass to high pass. At high resonance, it starts to self-oscillate and creates unique oscillating fuzz sounds. The built-in filter has another handy function. It allows you to dampen the sound and make it suitable for screaming guitars and low-end suitable bass as well.

With a single knob, you also get full control over the fuzz control. Then, there is an envelope follower with positive or negative settings and a dedicated level control allowing you to create wah wah sounds.

Further, Dreadbox also thought of Synthesizer players and incorporated two CV patch point sockets (filter, env out) with which you can also control the pedal with a modular synth.

The first video demos for the pedal are out now as well as a somewhat bizarre, funny making-of video by Dreadbox.  At first glance an interesting pedal for guitar/bass players.

At first glance an interesting pedal for guitar/bass players but I think it could also work well with synths. I am always interested in distortions, overdrive, etc. for synths, it would be exciting to pair this with electronic instruments to hear the results.
