TC Electronic Impulse IR Loader

TC Electronic’s new compact Impulse IR Loader pedal offers 25 built-in IRs, ships with 12 Official Celestion Cab Models, has 99 IR Slots, a handy A/B mode, plus support for IR up to 200ms. That is a lot of functionality for such a small pedal and so I can see it being useful for a lot of musicians.

Having that display on the front makes it easy to see what IR you have chosen and to easily switch between them. The pedal is true bypass, so you can either toggle it in or out of the signal chain, or in A/B mode it will switch between two IRs. You also have a global compensation EQ to help keep all your IRs consistent.

 

Drag and Drop

The pedal allows you to easily drag and drop your IR’s over USB and you can use the dedicated IR organiser for PC and MAC. All this should make this a very easy to use pedal, and ideal for busy guitarists that need a flexible speaker simulation solution.

I think 99 Impulse Response slots is more than enough for most users. And even if you keep all 25 of the factory shipped IRs, that still leaves you with 74 slots. TC has also developed a set of acoustic guitar IRs that will help when you are using an acoustic with a piezo pickup system, to make your guitar sound fuller and more natural sounding.

There isn’t much to complain about here, and the price is pretty reasonable as well. All you will need is a standard 9V DC power supply (not included) and you are ready to go.
