The legend of HEAVYS headphones The development of HEAVYS was headed up by Axel Grell, an engineer who was on the team behind the acclaimed Sennheiser HD series headphones. With over 27 years of experience in headphone development, Grell has sought to create an unprecedented listening tool for metal fans worldwide. The project began in 2020 with an uncompromising attitude of holding nothing back. The system consists of 8 total drivers – four per ear – which is double the spec of most headphones in this class. A crossover system allocates a single driver for low frequencies and another for midrange, while the remaining 2 are dedicated to treble. Unlike most headphone designs, the drivers are positioned directly in front of the auricle, rather than on the side, which produces an incredibly realistic stereo image.
