Symphony I/O - the base unit
The Symphony I/O comes as a single base unit. This unit features built-in Ethernet and USB output, as well as Symphony/Pro Tools HD PC-32 I/O - but no additional I/O. A pair of module bays lets you decide what additional I/O you need, allowing you to build the system you want. Choose from five different modules, each with a different assortment of analog and digital I/O. You can even add banks of Apogee&＃39;s ultra-transparent microphone preamps! Each of the Symphony I/O&＃39;s module cards offers Apogee&＃39;s finest conversion technology, and the Symphony I/O itself sports enhanced C777 clocking for completely reliable jitter-free performance.

Analog and AES - plus optical I/O
The Symphony 8x8 Analog I/O + 8x8 AES/Optical I/O Module adds a eight channels of analog inputs and outputs to your Apogee Symphony I/O on two 25-pin D-Sub connectors: one for input and one for output, each carrying eight balanced channels. A third 25-pin D-Sub connector gives you eight channels of AES/EBU digital I/O. You can also configure this connector in a single-wide 192kHz format. You can switch between the AES I/O and optical ports that support eight channels of 44.1-48kHz ADAT, eight channels of 88.2-96kHz S/MUX, or two channels of up to 96kHz S/PDIF. As if that&＃39;s not enough, you also get two channels of S/PDIF coax I/O (up to 192kHz) on RCA.

Eight superb preamps onboard
The Symphony 8 Mic Preamp Module adds Apogee&＃39;s incredible digitally controlled microphone preamplifiers to eight of your analog I/O module&＃39;s line inputs. Based on Apogee&＃39;s amazing Trak2 preamp technology, these ultra-transparent microphone preamps deliver the results that pro studios demand. Plus, the Symphony 8 Mic Preamp Module also adds four incredible hi-Z instrument inputs as well as eight fully balanced insert points.

Blazing-fast Thunderbolt performance
Apple&＃39;s Thunderbolt connectivity has opened up a world of professional recording possibilities. Apogee&＃39;s Symphony 64 | ThunderBridge is a 64-channel Thunderbolt connection for Apogee&＃39;s Symphony I/O. On the back panel, you&＃39;ll find two PC-32 ports for connection to Apogee interfaces, and two Thunderbolt ports that let you take advantage of the protocol&＃39;s daisy-chain feature. From the second port, you can connect high-bandwidth Thunderbolt devices such as hard drives and DisplayPort monitors in parallel from a single Thunderbolt port on your Mac. A trim desktop unit, Symphony | 64 ThunderBridge will also connect X-Symphony-equipped AD-16X, DA-16X, and Rosetta Series converters to Thunderbolt Macs.
