Animation Station is a new MIDI arpeggiator that features an intelligent “Step Animator” engine for creating arpeggiated patterns and step sequences on the spot. It also leans heavily on using presets, making it a great tool to combat melodic dry spells. Sample Logic Animation Station Getting started is easy enough – insert Animation Station as a MIDI effect after a virtual instrument, hold a key (or chord), and browse the presets until you find something cool. There are over 300 presets, which include melodic and chordal sequences, step-sequenced beats, and glitched-out stutters. If you want to dig deeper into the MIDI programming, the plug-in offers several parameters such as Rate, Arp Type, Velocity, Duration, Transpose, and Stutter rate for each step. You can also adjust BPM, Speed, Range (in octaves), and the number of steps. There’s also a randomizer that does both all-around randomization and specific parameters. You can also drag its MIDI patterns straight into the DAW for tweaking.
